It is amazing how self-critical and blaming we become when we become ill.  We can get angry, frustrated, resentful and feel betrayed by our own bodies.  When we react this way, we increase the stress response in our nervous system, which exacerbates and maintains illness.

We forget that our body is our friend and is trying to tell us something.  Perhaps something is lacking or out of balance. In our lives.  By replacing blame and criticism with kindness and compassion, we induce the relaxation response in the nervous system, which is a precursor for health and healing!
