What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a compassionate, evidence-based approach to emotional, mental, behavioural and nervous system healing. Through guided exploration, therapy helps uncover patterns, gain insight, build resilience and develop inner strength.
Together, we create space for self-reflection, identifying values, accessing self-compassion, processing life’s challenges, making meaning and building capacity to support you to live with greater clarity, authenticity and alignment. Your therapist acts as a trusted partner and catalyst for change, walking with you on your holistic journey toward healthy change. This includes building self-trust, dependability and creating a healthy, accurate self-concep to achieve powerful inner transformation.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes, our therapists offer free 15-minute phone consultations. This provides an opportunity for you to briefly describe what you’ve been experiencing and what you would like to work on in therapy, as well as for the therapist to describe their approach. The consultation call can be very helpful to determine comfort and fit. Given that the research continues to identify the client-therapist fit as the most significant influence of a successful outcome in therapy, we encourage consultations to ensure a healthy fit.
How can I get started?
It’s easy! You can Contact Us through our website, Email or Call us to book a consultation or appointment.
What is the rate?
Rates vary by service and practitioner. Please check our therapist’s profiles to see their rates.
Is psychotherapy covered by insurance?
While most benefits plans cover psychotherapy, all plans and policies differ. Please check with your provider to determine that your insurance benefits cover a Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) or Intern Therapist (practicing under the supervision of a Registered Psychotherapist), based on your therapist’s registration status.
What is the difference between a psychotherapist, psychologist and psychiatrist?
A psychotherapist is specially trained to provide psychotherapy (talk therapy).
A psychologist provides talk therapy and also has training to offer diagnostic assessments and diagnoses.
A Psychiatrist is a medical doctor with additional training. They provide talk therapy, diagnostic assessments/diagnoses and prescribe psychiatric medication.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No, a referral is not necessary to book a psychotherapy appointment. However, please check to see if your insurance company requires a referral from your physician.
How many sessions do I need to attend?
That depends on many factors, such as symptom severity, material to be processed, the needs of the mind-body to create healthy change through insight, awareness-raising and building capacity to meet life’s demands. We can’t say how many sessions you will need to attend, however we do require scheduling regularly occurring appointments to keep the process going, maintain insight, progress and movement toward goal attainment. Sessions should occur weekly to get started, can move to bi-weekly as progress is achieved and then monthly for maintenance of progress.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
Our cancellation policy requires 48 hours’ notice of cancellation (business hours only, excluding weekends and holidays). Late Cancellations or No Shows are subject to a full fee charge. While we appreciate that life can get busy, therapy appointments should be prioritized and are scheduled especially for you. Cancellations and reschedules should be rare in order to protect the process of therapy, as well as the integrity of the client-therapist relationship. If cancellations, even within the parameters of our policy, occur more than rarely, this will be addressed.
Do you offer direct billing?
No, our clients pay directly by credit card (or e-transfer) and receipts are sent automatically for you to submit to your insurer for reimbursement.
