Life is full of contradictions: We can have close relationships yet still feel isolated, have the desire for change but feel attached to the past, and have the hunger to live creatively with the need for stability. As human beings, relationships are central to our lives. Patterns and painful repetitions can exist within our own internal relationship and with others. This can lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem. My passion is to provide an exploratory, creative, playful and collaborative therapeutic space for teens and young adults to understand and work through these inner conflicts. Ultimately, the goal is for you to live more freely and openly as yourself.
I come from a background in fine arts and find excitement in building bridges between art and life. I often work alongside clients who would identify themselves as creatives and who have a unique set of struggles and strengths. Some are struggling with issues related to identity and self-understanding, and others are doing their best to manage the depth and complexity of their emotional landscape. I see a lot of deep thinkers, over-analyzers, perfectionists, and clients battling self-doubt and imposter syndrome. Anxiety and/or ADHD symptoms are oftentimes intertwined with these struggles.
I use a psychodynamic (aka psychoanalytic) approach which is based on deep exploration and bringing otherwise unconscious patterns into awareness. At your pace, we carefully weave the past and present, reality and fantasy, together to generate more self-acceptance, excitement, and personal meaning. The treatment is open-ended and I often see clients for medium and long-term exploration.
